With a dedicated group of skaters, experienced support staff and a new Weissensee team, it promises to be a winter full of sport.

Starting together

Under the guidance of Henk Angenent, the skaters are preparing for a season of races and sporting challenges. He is supported by a coaching and support team comprising Kees Haverkamp, Wabe de Rooij and Kai Reus.

Taeke Jongbloed, Rens Vergeer, Mees Blaauw, Rick Loos and Tom Loos will take to the ice for Douna this winter. This is a team built around commitment, cooperation and the desire to improve. Qualities we recognise at Douna Machinery, both in the workplace and on the skating rink.

New: heading towards Weissensee 2027 together

This season, our involvement in skating continues with a new Weissensee 2027 team, made up of members of Schaatstraining Bolsward.

On Saturday 10 October, the participants attended an instructive clinic led by the marathon skaters at the Elfstedenhal in Leeuwarden. It was a chance to learn from skaters who compete at a high level and share their experience with fellow skating enthusiasts.

This brings elite and recreational sport together. The knowledge and commitment of the racing team help recreational skaters progress in their preparations for the Weissensee.

Energy, perseverance and precision

Performing well takes preparation, attention to detail and trust in one another. In marathon skating, every lap counts; in our work, every component counts. That shared mindset makes the connection between Douna and skating such a natural fit.

We look forward to the first races, the development of our skaters and the Weissensee team's preparations. Now all we need is a cold winter.

Douna wishes all skaters, support staff and skating enthusiasts an enjoyable, safe and successful skating season!
