About Douna

Craftsmanship since 1924.

We bring engineering, machining, welding, assembly and inspection together. From Leeuwarden and Appelscha we work as one Douna, with direct communication between the requirement and its implementation.

What we stand for

Our mission

From technical challenge to a manufacturable end product.

We help clients move from a technical challenge to a manufacturable end product. From components and series to assemblies, tools and machines: we contribute ideas and take responsibility for the agreed manufacturing process.

Our vision

An industry that produces better and more sustainably.

We aim to improve production processes through sustainable technology. By connecting craftsmanship, innovation and collaboration, we build solutions for tomorrow's industry.

Our locations

Two locations. One Douna.

Our people and disciplines strengthen each other. Appelscha focuses on series production; our other manufacturing comes together in Leeuwarden. What matters to you is the end product, from one Douna.

Sustainable business

Generate more than we consume.

With solar energy from our own roof, we generate more electricity over a year than we consume ourselves. Batteries store generated electricity for later use. This gives us greater control over our energy supply and reduces dependence on direct electricity input.

  2. Store

    Batteries keep electricity for later.

  3. Use

Our own energy for our manufacturing.

The people behind the technology

People make the difference.

We have been developing our craftsmanship since 1924. We pass that experience on in the workshop and to a new generation of skilled people. At the same time, we keep learning, developing and collaborating.

How we put this into practice

Making hydrogen understandable

Education / EDU-H2

Within EDU-H2, Douna is developing a mobile electrolyser setup for education. The aim is to let students produce, measure and analyse hydrogen, both in the classroom and remotely.

Connecting knowledge and manufacturing experience

Collaboration / Hydrogreen

On 11 June 2026, Douna hosted a Hydrogreen meeting about Solid Oxide technology. Presentations, discussions and a factory tour brought the hydrogen value chain and manufacturing practice together.

Involved beyond the workshop too.

Douna supports Spieren voor Spieren, the foundation working for children with muscle disease.

What can we make together?
