The technique
What is engineering?
Engineering translates a functional requirement into technical specifications for a component, module or machine. Function, geometry and interfaces are developed so that production or assembly can start on an agreed basis.
Not every order requires engineering. With a production-ready enquiry, the route can start directly with suitable execution.
A production-ready drawing does not automatically require a separate engineering phase; the required scope is determined for each enquiry.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about engineering
When is engineering needed before production?
Engineering is useful when function, geometry, connections or technical starting points are insufficiently developed. A production-ready drawing allows direct assessment for execution. The required engineering is scoped for each order.
What information is needed for an engineering enquiry?
Describe the required function, application and project phase. Include available drawings, dimensions and information about adjoining components. Identify settled decisions and open questions.
Who is responsible for the design?
Design responsibility is agreed before development. This defines which technical decisions fall within the order, which information the client supplies and which points require separate validation.
What is recorded during technical handover?
Handover includes the agreed development, starting points, decisions and open validation points. Drawings and documents depend on the next step: production, assembly or further assessment.
