Scalable hydrogen electrolyser for educational use
Douna has developed a hydrogen electrolyser for educational use: a compact, scalable demonstration unit that brings together the main components of a full-scale electrolysis installation in one clear, mobile skid.
The unit is deliberately designed around four principles:
· Robust — built from proven, industrial-grade components.
· Simple — transparent and clearly laid out, suitable for demonstration, testing and training.
· Standardised control — analogue 0–5V input and output signal, with a power supply that also accepts digital control signals.
· Scalable — the same main components as a large installation, in a more compact form.
Because the electrolyser contains virtually all the main components of a larger installation, the step from demonstration to production is small: what works here scales up to a full system.
Technical highlights:
· Adjustable power supply up to 6 kW, connecting directly to three-phase power.
· Direct-current output up to 200 A.
· Controllable via various control signals, including digital.
As a precision machining company with in-house engineering, Douna builds not only the unit itself but also the critical components within it — from valves and pressure vessels to process and subsea parts. This is how we connect green hydrogen technology with manufacturing at industrial scale.
