Innovative metal company from Leeuwarden in the race for the most active training company award

Douna Machinery nominated for OOM Award as best trainer

Hazerswoude-Dorp, September 7, 2023. Douna Machinery from Leeuwarden has been nominated this week for the OOM Award Northern Netherlands 2023. The OOM Award is the award for the most active (metal) training company in the region. In addition to Douna Machinery, Veenstra Mechanisatie from Bakkeveen and Holtrop & Jansma from Dokkum have also been nominated. The winner will be announced during the annual meeting of Metaalunie district North Netherlands on September 21.

“Training is the future of our company,” says Hendrik Wijnja, technical director of Douna Machinery. “That's why we always have a group of interns and graduates here.

It is also great fun to transfer all the knowledge we have built up here to a new generation. So we are very happy with the nomination: it is a reward for the much work we put into training.”

In addition, we continuously train our own staff.

A good example of this is hydrogen technology.

Professional jury

The nominations for the OOM Award are determined on the basis of the number of further training activities by the company's employees, the number of BBL students supervised and the number of internships offered. After the nomination, a professional jury visits all nominated companies. This jury then makes a final decision. The winner will be announced during the annual meeting of the Royal Metal Union in the relevant district.
